What is a “Combo Abombo”?
Zucchini warning
A quote that summarizes some of the well known proven dangers of salt consumption.
The mistake my raw food mentor made back in 2001 when giving me advice to overcome my salty and savory cravings.
How to overcome salt addiction the easy way and the fun way.
List of raw foods high in healthy organic sodium and savory flavor.
Are you trying to give up salt but feel intense cravings to eat it?
Then boy do I have just the right solution for you…
I call it my Salty Zucchini Addiction recipe. I specifically designed this recipe so that it would have a distinctively salty flavor. Though it is not overly salty either.
It tastes quite salty even though it uses no salt. But it does use some sodium rich foods to give it that salty flavor.
Plus it uses another ingredient that is often used in salt substitute herbal blends to give it an explosively exciting flavor that is to die for.
It’s just four common and inexpensive savory flavored raw foods including zucchini that you can find in most supermarkets. And it’s very quick and easy to make with a high powered blender like a Vitamix. I do recommend blenders that come with tampers for a recipe like this.
And since it uses such few ingredients you can really appreciate the exquisite flavors that each raw ingredient brings. This is the secret of traditional gourmet Italian cuisine. In this case, less ingredients produces way more flavor.
When you start adding lots of ingredients the delicious flavors of your raw foods will be hidden by the strongest tasting ingredients in the recipe. Trust me it is a completely different and better taste experience when using a minimum number of ingredients instead 10 or 20 different ingredients.
There is an old saying in raw food circles “combo abombo”. And that just means that typical raw recipes taste like crap because they have way too many ingredients in them which confuses the flavors.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to only buy organic zucchini because most conventional zucchini is GMO.
In any case, let’s face the facts….
Salt can be very addictive and it is a corrosive cellular poison. It is highly damaging to the cells it comes into contact with.
Here’s a short quote from a Glamor magazine article that summarizes the point nicely.
"And, we now know that too much salt can lead to high blood pressure, strokes and kidney failure."

But good luck trying to overcome a salt addiction by eating more bananas or other sweet fruit. That was the solution to overcome my salt and savory addiction my raw food mentor suggested to me back in the late summer of 2001 in my very first week of being 100% raw.
However, that just didn’t cut it. It didn’t work. That wasn’t one of his best pieces of advice to me.
Luckily there are plenty of savory raw foods that are high in plant based sodium so that you will never miss adding salt to your diet.
Foods like:
Beet greens
Swiss Chard
Celery
Parsley
Bok Choy
Spinach
Kale
Zucchini
Tomatoes (Not super high in sodium but taste quite salty and savory.) To me Roma or plum tomatoes are one of the ultimate savory foods.
Handling sweet on a Raw Food Diet is easy but most people don’t learn how to defeat their salty and savory cravings without adding toxic salt to their diet.
Thankfully, I got over my salt addiction over two decades ago. And having savory or salty tasting raw recipes is the key to easily beating a salt addiction.
The easy way to beat a salt addiction is to simply eat lots of sodium rich raw plant foods every day.
For instance you can start your day by juicing and drinking a full head of celery juice.
The fun way is to have salty and savory style raw recipes that explode with Divine flavor at your disposal whenever you are craving salt.
