Very interesting article. But isn't eating lots of fruits, juices and carbs loading you up with a ton of sugar? I don't want to get diabetes. And what about all the fiber? I'm reading a book called:
"Fiber Menace" and he makes a good case against fiber saying it can cause small tears in intestines among other things. There are so many opinions about everything out there that it can make you crazy just trying to figure things out. Eve
You know, back around the late 1990s and even shortly after I became 100% raw for good in 2001 I had some of the same fears you did when it comes to eating sugar in the form of fruit.
But then I started to see some studies that completely disproved this notion. In fact, I wrote an email to my list about this very topic on October 25, 2022. I have since added that email here to my Substack blog and have expanded it.
Does Eating a 1lb of White Sugar Daily Cause Diabetes?
And I now have over 20 years of experience of eating raw and eating a very high carb diet. And I know a LOT of raw foodists and I NEVER saw someone who was on a high fruit and low fat raw diet develop diabetes due to eating raw.
Eating a high fruit and low fat raw diet like I recommend may or may not heal someone who already has diabetes but it certainly will not cause diabetes. You'll realize that after your read my post.
As for the notion of fiber ripping up your intestines that is absolutely not the case. I have been eating at least 300% fiber for decades. It's not a problem at all if it comes from raw fruits and vegetables. Today for instance I ate 398% of my daily fiber requirements (which is about 119 grams of fiber) and I feel fantastic.
And our primate cousins likely eat more fiber than me and yet it is their natural diet. Always ask yourself what our primate cousins do and you can gain a lot of clarity.
Hi Eve! I can tell you from my own personal experience that going on a high carb raw food diet has been amazing. I lost weight quickly by switching from my high fat cooked food diet. I know there's a lot out there that can muddy the water. The best way to know is from personal experience. Roger is an amazing coach, and helped me through my own personal misconceptions about nutrition. Through experience, I've been able to get my nutrients, find recipes I love, and have zero cooked food cravings.
One time many years ago, I had a panic attack, and went to a doctor. They could not tell me anything that would help. I did say I ate 5 bananas a day, and she told me "that's too much!". Nowadays I eat 6-8 bananas daily, along with tons of other high sugar fruit, such as berries, melons, dates, oranges. I feel fantastic, tons of energy, and with no with panic attacks or other medical issues. Digestion has improved, my gallbladder pain is gone, and I get sick less often. It's been 2.5 years of eating like this, and by far the best health decision I have ever made. Just say one day, that you're not going to eat cooked food anymore. Try it for a week or two and see how you feel. All that cooked food may taste addictively good, but it's wreaking havoc on your insides. I run circles around people half my age. Cooked food is not what your body is intended to consume, or you'd have a built in body part that cooks the food (like a dragon) for you. I understand the addiction, I've been there for 38 years. I truly hope that you give it a shot! You don't know what you're missing out on until you go for it.
Hi Jake, Sorry I should've answered you back then but life got in the way. I did do the raw diet years ago, lost 30 lbs and had a baby and that was, won't say a breeze, but close to it. Went in hospital at around 11:30 pm and had her around 1 0r 2 am. So not bad, but my daughter and friends of course, don't believe me. Oh well.
Have been seeing how many people are going ketogenic (meat with veggies) or totally carnivore and healing from all kinds of stuff and not just young people. But in the back of my mind I keep thinking that God wouldn't have said I have given you all kinds of fruit bearing trees and plants if they were bad for you., would he?!! (But he does mention meat too).
So anyway we will see I just might go back to raw. I did enjoy it. Thanks for you nice answer. Eve
For many years I did not believe going raw was a good decision. I was addicted to the cooked food culture, whether I knew it or not. I was slowly getting bigger around the belly, even with as much intense exercise I was doing.
I tried many different things, and along that path eventually came raw food. Roger called me out on my addictions, and I told him I would do 3 days secretly, and see what I felt. It was like a weight lifting off me. I felt so good those 3 days, that I decided to eat 100% raw permanently. It's so important to experiment in life, otherwise you're there wondering how good it could be, or second guessing yourself. The evil of this world will make you second guess good decisions, because it gives them power over us all with fear they create. Going raw is as simple as making the decision, then go get some groceries and pick out a few meals. You take back your power. It's as simple as that.
It costs so much more to eat cooked food, you don't even know! I'm more productive and valuable at work, I play with my daughter more because I have more energy, and I haven't gone to one doctor. My life quality has gone up many times as a result.
I pay medical claims for a living, and its not just the cost of treating cancer, but all the other drugs and expensive diagnostic testing they make you go through. You end up paying thousands every year, and keep getting sicker, waste more time and precious life energy. Then eventually you have a big health event, either a heart attack, sepsis, cancer, and you're stuck at a much lower quality of life permanently.
Eating a raw food diet is cheap compared to the alternative, and it's not even close!

Thanks for your question Eve,
